Roots started with a simple concept and a desire to bring it to life. In 1973, Michael Budman and Don Green founded Roots. They were motivated by their love for Ontario’s Algonquin Park and everything it symbolized for them. Beginning in Toronto with footwear, Roots expanded to include high-quality leather bags, jackets, accessories, their iconic salt & pepper sweats, natural fiber clothing, and home decor. The leather items have always been and continue to be crafted in Canada at our own facility in Toronto.
